If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” ― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
It is my holistic belief that living a life by design means understanding your relationship to yourself, understanding your relationship to others and the world, and understanding your relationship to that which causes you joy and giving name to these and expressing these.
A large part of being authentic is knowing oneself and then sharing that intimate knowledge of yourself with another lovingly. It involves continued recognition of each individual as an individual, but also as attached to a greater whole. It involves communication of those needs and a space for awareness of Self and Other. In this space of integration and communication, intimacy and joy and maturity, as well as self-awareness and deeper knowledge of Other, can flourish.
We believe in many pathways to alignment with Self, including somatic practice, awareness of the Subtle Body through Tantra, sensual touch, and mediated difficult conversations--frequently with yourself.
Regardless your relational status, learning how to understand your needs and desires, how to communicate that with another, and negotiating a successful relationship with yourself and others are life-long skills to cultivate and hone as you grow and change.
